Maybe most of you are really curious about what a day looks like in a life of a VA. We’re not like the common workers that you see, waking up really early to avoid traffic and being late for work. We don’t wear coats and suits for work. We don’t wear ties and shiny black shoes to work. We don’t even go out of the house to work. But, one thing is for sure. Just like the other professions, we work and offer the best possible services that we can give, using the skills that we have.

We have a normal day just like a normal employee. We work from 8 in the morning until 5 in the afternoon and sometimes until the evening when clients ask us to do something urgent for them. Some of us would work afternoon until night time, as long as tasks are being accomplished efficiently. Well, let me cut the chase. Let me give you a quick tour of what my day as a VA looks like. Let me divide our day into three.
TIME for TRELLO, EMAILS and SKYPE
– The bed may be too inviting, but we need to fight the urge to sleep a little longer. So, the first thing that we do is to check our client’s Trello and also our emails. This is done to check what tasks should be done for today, what task to prioritize and also to make necessary clarifications before getting the work done. Checking of Trello, emails and Skype messages is usually done on the first hour of the working shift. Checking the client’s Trello also helps us to check whether the previous tasks are approved and if there are issues to resolve. Keeping an eye to the client’s Trello is very important. If you’ll ask if we only check it in the morning, the answer is NO. We check it every once in a while to make sure we don’t miss any details for the task.
TIME TO GET THE WORK DONE!
– After checking the emails, messages and Trello boards, it’s time to get the work done. Of course, rush tasks are on the top of the list. Time to click that tracker and start working. What if we have 3 clients and 2 of them emailed urgent tasks? We resolve that with time management. And even though rush tasks are rushing to us, we still make sure that every tasks is accomplished efficiently. It’s a different kind of fulfilment to finish tasks at the end of the day and receive a simple “Thank you! I love it” from the client.
RECORD AND REPORT ACCOMPLISHMENTS
– Before shutting down our computers and laptops, recording and reporting the accomplishments done for the day is a must. Clients are informed of what tasks were done as well as the pending tasks. Reporting the accomplished tasks is a way to inform the clients that the time given is maximized well enough for the tasks given. This is done through emails, skype messages and by adding a comment in the Trello board.
After that, time to rest and relax. But, we still need to keep the lines open. This is to make sure that if a client request for something to be fixed we can address to their concerns immediately. Being a VA might sound a little boring for some but it’s something that we enjoy. This is what our day looks like. It stars by checking tasks and ends with sending accomplished tasks.
