My List of Most Influential Women

Updated: Aug 14, 2020

Throughout my life, I’ve had the opportunity to meet many people who have helped mold me into the person I am today and some of them are known for their contribution to the world of entertainment, politics and some are inspirational teachers.

Here is my list of influential women.. who I admire most.

Maya Angelou, She’s an American author, actress, screenwriter and she is a civil rights activist. Her quotes are just amazing that all of them will just simply give us goosebumps. “You may not control all the events that happen to you, but you can decide not to be reduced by them.” that is just one of my favorite quotes from her. Indeed, we cannot control or choose what we want to happen in our lives, and it’s up to us if we choose to be affected by them or just learn from the experience and be strong enough for future endeavors.

Oprah Winfrey, Who doesn’t know Oprah Winfrey, A Billionaire media executive, and philanthropist Oprah Winfrey are best known for hosting her own internationally popular talk show from 1986 to 2011. What inspired me about her most is that as a black woman in the US she did a lot of FIRSTS! FIRST “black female host of a national daily talk show with the premiere of The Oprah Winfrey Show.” The FIRST “recipient of the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences’ Bob Hope Humanitarian Award.” FIRST “black female billionaire in the United States in 2003 and so much more.” She’s an amazing woman! I have learned that it doesn’t matter if you are black, white, or Asian or what, we all have rights in this world.

Alecia Beth Moore “Pink” (Singer) She is a Grammy Award-winning and chart-topping recording artist. What I admire about Pink, of course, all of her songs but most interesting is the story of her life. As a teenager (15) she began to abuse drugs and alcohol, and at one point, Pink overdosed and she admits that she spent her teenage years selling hard drugs like crystal meth. But after all of these happen to her she stands up and reshapes her life and her future, what a strong woman. My favorite quote from her is this “It’s being alive and feisty and not sitting down and shutting up. Even if people would like you to.” I have learned that we must learn from our past and use them for the future.

My Secondary Education Teacher “My influence on my students being a good teacher will never be erased.” A line from my teacher way back when I was in high school that is still on my mind until now. She was the kind of teacher that can be your friend at the same time can be a mother to every student. I admired her because she is a single parent, raised her children on her own and she is such a strong woman. It’s true what she said that if you like to be remembered by people you must do good on your everyday living, even on your co-worker your and to your friends or even to a stranger. She taught me to be a strong person despite the adversities that I encountered at that time. To my teacher thank you!

My Aunt This Aunt of mine let’s say considered one of my influencers. I always bring with me the advice she said to me wherever I go and whatever I do. Always FOCUS that’s the word she said to me, It made me come to realize that focusing on my craft or whatever I do will have good outcomes. I admit that sometimes I’m out of focus and don’t know how to bring back that eagerness to be good at all. And yes that word helps me a lot to be on my senses and being sensitive again.

My Mother The most important person in my life is my mother. She does everything for me. She is very caring. My mother is a housewife. She is one of the people I respect and love the most. She struggles a lot but never loses her patience and always makes faith in herself. She not only inspired me the strength to overcome hardships in my life but also provided me with valuable lessons of life. She gave me a lesson to appreciate this life as a precious gift of ordinary life and enjoy it with happiness as she is the only one who brought me to this world.

Having a person who influences you, to learn from them could be considered one of our fundamental needs, but sadly not everyone has a person like this in their lives.  I think it is important to have a role model, someone who sets a good example and will make you realized not to give up despite all the troubles in life. It doesn’t matter if they a friend or family member or just someone you know, or even a famous person!

Let’s celebrate women and give importance to their rights! Let’s not forget all of their contributions to this world. Happy Women’s Month!
