“You don’t start out writing good stuff. You start out writing crap and thinking it’s good stuff, and then gradually you get better at it.
That’s why I say one of the most valuable traits is persistence.”
– Octavia E. Butler
It starts with a letter, a word, followed by a phrase, then by a sentence and soon you’ll realize you have written a paragraph and sometimes consecutive paragraphs…an article. Article which is always a subject for correction and revision. Once published, it’s a different kind of fulfilment that bloggers or content writers like me feels. Working as a blogger, just like any other kinds of job is never easy. But what makes me love my job is the fulfilment that it brings and bringing me closer to what I really love…writing.

Working as a blogger has taught me a lot of things. Let me wrap them into three biggest lessons. One of them is PATIENCE. Articles will not always be approved the moment you send them to clients. Some would even ask you to rewrite it and start from scratch. Well, you cannot blame them. Sometimes what’s best for us is only good for them. Thus, working as a blogger taught me to be more patient in revising and rewriting everything until they tell you “you did great and prepare for publish.” Sweetest words that you can ever hear. It might take you several hours to complete one article and a day to revise everything. But it’s okay. It’s part of the job.
Second, CONSIDER EVERY ARTICLE AS A DRAFT unless approved. As a blogger, every article written, no matter how good it is, I always consider it as a draft and every draft is still open for suggestions and of course changes. Suggestions which can help our article to be more powerful and which we can also use the next time that we compose an article for the client. In writing, there is always a room for improvement and every article starts from good, to better and best.
Lastly, A GOOD WRITER IS A GOOD RESEARCHER. Yes, as a blogger, one thing that you should always be good at is writing. Playing with words and jotting down your ideas to create an article that your clients will love. However, an article should always come from a research. As a blogger, you should know: your client’s business, what’s the latest trend when it comes to his or her field of business? What topics will attract the reader? What’s the age of the readers? What writing style will keep them reading and revisit your client’s website? Yes, you can talk anything under the sun but remember, it’s not your personal blog. You’re writing for a client. So, everything about them should be considered.
Some may think that my life, working as a blogger is boring. But for me, it’s not. It’s something that I love from the very start. Yes, I may not be able to write down anything I want but at least, seeing my works being published is one of the biggest fulfillment that I can ever have. With the opportunity to work as a blogger, I become more persistent. I can be better and I can be the best in my craft.
