World Heart Day Amidst the Pandemic

Now more than ever, taking care of our hearts is very important. Together, on September 29, 2020, let us all observe World Heart Day and take the time to be informed about CVD (Cardiovascular Disease) and stroke.

People with underlying health conditions, such as heart disease, are more vulnerable to Covid-19. They are faced with a double-edged threat which is the possibility of being afraid to go and seek ongoing care for their hearts as well as being more vulnerable to developing severe forms of this virus.

There are several ways to avoid and lessen the risks of premature deaths from heart disease and stroke. 80% of these cases can be avoided by controlling tobacco use, maintaining a heart-healthy diet, setting fitness goals, reducing stress, and most importantly go to the hospital/emergency room if needed.

It is understandable to be distressed during this pandemic, but we should just always believe that all of this will be over sooner rather than later. And let us take this time to focus on our wellbeing, start a daily workout for at least 30 minutes, focus on eating healthy, and avoid anything that would stress us. In this day and age, there are so many sources that we can get information and entertainment from on the internet. We just have to make sure that the content that we choose to consume would be great for our health and wellbeing. Let us stay positive and healthy, together we will see the end of this pandemic.
