Celebrating Pride: LGBTQ Appreciation

"Why is it that, as a culture, we are more comfortable seeing two men holding guns than holding hands?" --Author Ernest J. Gaines

Men, women, lesbians, gays, bisexuals, transgenders, and queers, he or she, we are all created equal. But, how many times have you heard or seen news of people from the LGBTQ community being harassed, disrespected, made fun of, and how unaccepted they are in the community? LGBTQ communities do no harm. They're asking for acceptance and respect, just like each one of us.

Being or knowing someone who is lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer is no longer a fresh issue. Some members of the LGBTQ community even hide who they really are inside the closet for years. Why? Because of the fear of being rejected and discriminated against. Gender identity is still one of the workplace issues. Studies have shown that 42 percent to 68 percent of LGBT individuals report experiencing employment discrimination. When will this end? When will the "society" stop being too judgemental?

This LGBTQ appreciation month, let us help spread awareness. Convince everyone in the community to have an open mind and to accept the fact that being part of the LGBTQ community is not a crime or a sin. Help stop work discrimination and let these individuals be successful in their own ways. And if you know anyone who is discouraged because of the numerous times they have been rejected because of their gender identity, tell them not to quit their dreams. Let these Successful LGBT+ Entrepreneurs, Executives and Opinion Leaders inspire them.

Spread love, not hate! Promote equality and stop discrimination. Let them love who they want to love.
