Anyone, let me repeat that again, anyone can be a Virtual Assistant. They say as long as you have the skills and the willingness to learn, then yes, you can be a Virtual Assistant. So how do you know you’ve got the best? What qualities should you take in to consideration?
Here is my list.

Reliable. The reason you are hiring is to increase your productivity and eliminate, if not lessen the stress you get in ensuring all tasks are done on time. Just for that very reason you know why I believe this is the first in my list.
Honest. Just like any regular employee at work, your hired Virtual Assistant will be exposed to sensitive and confidential information. While honesty can be a test of time, it is worth getting a referral or a character check from someone you know who’ve worked with them.
Responsive. Set a time at the start of your project. Say the Virtual Assistant must be able to reply within 12 hours you’ve sent the email or when you call, they must pick up within 5 rings. These things are very important when you got an urgent matter that needs to be done. But of course, please know they are also humans who encounter medical emergencies or attend to family matters and country holidays.
Meticulous. It is very important that the Virtual Assistant is keen on details because at the end of the day, for sure, you don’t want to re-do whatever task you delegated to them.
Resourceful. It helps a lot when the Virtual Assistant strategically knows how to solve a problem or overcome obstacles that comes their way. It’s actually a must since you may not both be online when that happens.
Flexible. Or should I term it as Time Management? Either way, that’s how I’d like to put when it comes to timeliness. I always say who can be there for you at anytime you deem necessary – except again for valid reasons or a matter of life and death.
The list could go on but after 10 years and counting, these tops my list. Tell me how your relationship is with your Virtual Assistant.
