Tips in Delegating Social Media to Your Virtual Assistant

For the past 8 years and counting, most of my clients eventually ended up passing the Social Media project to me. Why? Because it was eating their time and that they couldn’t believe that a day just passed by with them spending on a few posts not even enough to last that week. So, yes, time consuming and routine. And for that, best to get a Virtual Assistant.

  1. Decide on which Social Media platforms you want to delegate. Based on experience, the most delegated is the Facebook Page, Instagram, Twitter and LinkedIN.

  2. Do a thorough inventory of what content you currently have. Look into your files and see what is available to repurpose. Save all in a cloud storage for access later on.

  3. Set up a meeting with your VA. First meeting you should give a thorough orientation of how you post on social media. Second, you must help the VA understand your goal, your tone, everything that is related on how you post in your social media when you do it yourself. This should at least be weekly until the VA has fully grasp your style.

  4. Create, maintain and update weekly content calendar. There must be a “guide” or a “checklist” for you and your VA to be in the same direction.

  5. Review the content researched and created by your VA prior to posting. For the first couple of weeks to a month, guide your VA to your “tone” and choice of words until they are able to learn and on their own craft the verbiage that goes in the post.

  6. Automate where you can. Schedule using the platform’s scheduler or sign up with Hootsuite, Buffer, MeetEdgar, Post Planner and a lot more choices. It helps to have at least 2 weeks worth of scheduled post if in case something urgent comes up then at least you still have content coming out.

  7. Review analytics together. Incorporate the social media platform’s reports on your meetings. Say for Facebook, there is Insights or if you use 3rd party schedulers, be sure to generate reports. Go over them together and re-design a plan, if needed and keep doing what’s generating attention and leads.

  8. Keep everything up-to-date. Be aware of the trends and improvements being done by the different social media platforms. Update your account and ensure you are using and promoting your brand across all platforms.
